Out now! op cd en vinyl the fantastic Mete Erker Trio Celebration of Mediocrity

Mete Erker is a saxophone player from Holland with a truly authentic style. He is renowned for his rich and warm sound, strong drive, and his very personal and expressive way of playing, at times reminiscent of the great jazz tenors of the ’60′s.

Throughout the years Mete Erker  worked with music masters like Peter Erskine, David Liebman, senegalese master drummer Doudou N’Diaye Rose, South African jazz legend Winston Mankunku, and russian piano virtuoso Simon Nabatov.
His discography consists of 50+ albums. Next to that he toured in a variety of settings, ranging from  an improvised duet with the hungarian choreographer Reka Szabo, to working with popular dutch crossover acts like Zuco 103 and New Cool Collective.

Mete Erker just finished his first solo album of his Mete Erker Trio, the main platform with which Erker explores the diverse traditions of jazz music. On this album he will be working in a classic trio setting with: Johan Plomp on double bass, Makki van Engelen on drums and special guest Bart Wirtz on saxophone.

Mete Erker’s music: a combination of raw energy and lyricism.

Louk Boudesteijn’s Fullduplexx release their new album Modern People

Over Cortonville:

My Baby – Loves Voodoo!

My Baby – Loves Voodoo! is volgens Eric echter een bijzonder warme plaat.

After years of performing and recording several albums with the Souldiers, the Dutch- New Zealand ensemble comprising Joost van Dyke, sister Cato van Dyke and New Zealand guitarist Daniel Johnston embarked on a new journey and formed My Baby in 2012. Spending a year in the Smusic studio in Amsterdam with producer Mickey Smid bore some strange fruit. It was a fertile creative hotbed, sonically echoing the delta of the deep south , and like musical stonemasons the threepiece carved a conceptual album out of the raw material they conceived and recorded, this became the album My baby loves Voodoo!

My Baby’s indie funk delta blues rockband signs recorddeal with Embrace Recordings

With much pride we present to you our newest familymembers the greatest rockband ever MY BABY consisting of the ever so beautifull Cato van Dijck on vocals and guitar her brother Joost van Dijck on drums and all the way from New Zealand on guitar Daniel da Freez

MY BABY is the new formed group around Cato van Dyck, Daniel da Freez and Joost van Dyck. Raw Soulful Uncut vocals, GospelBlues Guitar, Haunting HeartBeats.

MY BABY started off with recording an album with producer Mickey Smid, to be released this fall 2013. November 2012 even before the album was finished they got discovered by Funk President Larry Graham, with whom they performed on the biggest TV show in Holland. Now they’re touring from the North to the South, the East to the West spreading their grooves, their signature sound and the story of MY BABY.

“My Baby’s gonna ride,
there she goes thru the wild mountain thyme”
“When My Baby’s gone,
she’ll wear a crown of thorns
and weep and moan at the passersby”
Just listen to My Baby cry..

She will seek aid from an old fortune teller. A guiding hand , or brief gaze into the future to justify her actions and her “voodoo spells” of which we hear glimpses in the songs.

They are adressed to the money men, the elitist, the warmongering.. but most of all the ones who are willing to listen.

This is an unforgiving pass of judgement on her behalf but none other than her should be held accountable. What is left for those listeners is the role of an audience, and see what unfolds as our conscience is put to the test during MY BABY’s day of reckoning.. “
